London Smarties Come To KW

On Wednesday the London contingent of smarties made the journey to KW to visit the Concordia Club. I took off work a bit early for we were going to have a little tour of the countryside. We met in Baden and then drove around for about 1.5 hours until we arrived at the Concordia Club. There we met up with more smarties from the surrounding areas, including the GTA. About 15 people showed up for the dinner, including Harald from parts4smarts.ca. We even had a non smartie in our midst who had the chance to drive a smart during our little romp around the countryside. After dinner, most of us headed over to Haralds to see his little store of Michelak parts in his basement. At least one purchase was made, and I found out he finally has keychains coming in again (YAY!). We slowly dispersed our seperate ways for the drive home. All in all it was a great evening, no, it was a great afternoon. Couldn’t think of a better way to relax.

Waiting at the school in Baden before we set off.

KW Autum Smart Drive

Today a bunch of smarties from the KW area got together to look at the pretty colours in the countryside. It was fggy and wet, but we all went anyways, after the drive we all went to the kings buffet in guelph. Somehow they had no steamed rice, which really steamed me, since i had nothing else i could eat. Ah well, a fun time was had by all parties involved. On to the pics.

New ForTwo 451

Recently I saw the new Smart ForTwo 451 at Victoria star motors. This was my first time seeing the new one in person, and I find myself agreeing with my previous thoughts on it. I personally think it looks completely fat. The current 450has a nice sharp and straight rear end, nice sharp sides, with distinct fender flares. The new 451 in my opinion loses all of that and just overall looks like it has gained a few pounds. The rear end is sloped far too much for my tastes, as well as the lack of rear side windows. The interior, while apparently larger, looked smaller to me. The mundaneness of it compared to the current 450 also can not be over stressed. The poor car has lost it’s spunk. Not to mention the fact that it is not available as a diesel. Oh, I just did.

There are certainly a few things that I do like however. I like the new headlamp arrangement, nice bright xenons. I like the new way of opening the rear hatch, no longer do you need your key fob to open it, even if the car is unlocked. Alas, i still wouldn’t buy one. Everyone else who was looking at the car with me also would not buy one, and they all currently own and love a Smart.
